Today was a beautiful day. When we left Boise City at 8:00 a.m. the sun was trying to peak through the clouds, and there was no wind. We actually got to see 8:00 a.m. twice today, crossing over the time zone shortly after leaving Oklahoma.
We followed 56 highway over to Springer, NM, then headed towards Red River. This is a beautiful ride, and it was crisp and cool early this morning, which made the ride even more pleasant. Following 64 highway across New Mexico we saw lots of snow on one of the passes. We planned on staying the night in Shiprock, NM., until we arrived and discovered they have no motels. The picture is of the rock that the town got it's name from.
We ended up riding another 100 miles to Kayenta, which gave us a 555 mile day.
Sunday morning we are going to ride towards Flagstaff, stopping early for a relaxing day. On Monday morning we will ride to mile post 273 on highway 89. This location changed the lives of our entire family forever, several years ago, and I am intrigued to ride the road myself, for whatever reason.
Stay tuned for Day #3.
